Pionix BaseCamp

Pionix BaseCamp is a reliable and future-ready operating system that streamlines EV charger development and operation while ensuring compatibility with the latest industry standards. Built on the open-source framework LF Energy EVerest, BaseCamp addresses key challenges faced by charger manufacturers and controller manufacturers.

Efficient testing environment

BaseCamp provides comprehensive test environments and well-documented Qualification and BringUp processes with robust debugging capabilities. Developers can quickly prototype, validate, and deploy their solutions.

Scalable and flexible framework

BaseCamp uses EVerest’s modular software architecture. This enables developers to easily assemble ready-to-use functional blocks, thus maximizing flexibility as different EV charging scenarios can be conveniently modeled.

Compatibility with industry standards

BaseCamp maintains compliance with accelerating industry standards and regulations through ongoing testing with different EVs, including pre-production vehicles. It ensures compatibility across a wide range of charging protocols, including OCPP 1.6/2.0.1/2.1 and ISO 15118-2/-20.

Out-of-the-box hardware drivers

BaseCamp comes with a selection of ready-to-go drivers for various hardware components such as DC power supplies, power meters and isolation monitors.

EVerest is an open source charging station software stack that was initiated by Pionix, and is now a community project under the governance of Linux Foundation Energy (LFE). It is licensed under Apache 2.0.
BaseCamp uses EVerest as its base. While the open source EVerest changes very quickly and new code commits happen by the hour, BaseCamp uses a stabilized version, where only tried and tested code finds its way into the release.
Pionix maintains and stabilizes the EVerest version BaseCamp is based on. Testing it with different hardware and configurations to make sure it works in every setup at all times – that is the core of BaseCamp. Additionally, BaseCamp offers stable APIs, BringUp & Qualification processes, extensive documentation, a database of additional hardware drivers, access to the Pionix Cloud and, of course, enterprise-level services.
Since BaseCamp is regularly updated and new standards and protocols are added as soon as they are implemented and tested, the list of supported standards is constantly growing. At the moment, BaseCamp supports:
OCPP 1.6, 2.0.1 and 2.1.
ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20
etc.
